Try your hand at this simple pickling recipe…Spicy Dill String Beans are sure to be a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients
- 3 lbs green beans
- 2 1/2 C white vinegar
- 2 1/2 C water
- 4 T sea salt
- 5 cloves garlic
- 5 t dill seed
- 5 t red chili flakes
Instructions
- Prepare 5 pint jars
- Wash and trim beans so they fit in jar, if very long, cut in half
- Blanch beans–boil water, add beans, cover, return to boil 2 mins, transfer to bowl of ice, drain, cool
- Combine vinegar, water and salt. Pack the cooled beans in jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. To each jar add once clove garlic, 1 t dill seed and i desired, 1 t red chili flakes
- Pour brine over beans, leaving 1/2″ head space. After the jars are full, use wooden chopstick to work out air bubbles. Add more brine if necessary
- Refrigerate at least 24 hours
Notes
If you want it fiery, add 5 t red chili flakes
